DAV has issued an alert to remind members about H.R. 1292, the Disabled Veterans Commissary and Exchange Store Benefits Act, which was introduced earlier this year by Representative Jeff Fortenberry. This bill would allow compensable disabled service-connected veterans and their dependents to utilize Department of Defense exchange and commissary privileges. Service-connected veterans and their dependents would have access to these facilities just as if they were members or dependents of the armed forces entitled to retired or retainer pay.
This bill is in alignment with DAV Resolution 095, which calls for legislation to extend commissary and exchange privileges to service-connected disabled veterans and their dependents.
This has been a longstanding priority of DAV for its members and disabled veterans everywhere. Learn more at http://www.dav.org/can/?vvsrc=%2fcampaigns.
